Jewish District in Warsaw (3 h)
Before the WWII 30% of the Warsaw population was Jewish. In this time there were about 400 synagogues in the city. All of them were destroyed by the Nazis to celebrate defeating of the Ghetto Uprising. Today there is only one synagogue left in Warsaw.
Walking on the right side of the river you can come to the Jewish district Praga
(Prague). Today you still can sense the atmosphere of the Jewish Warsaw before the
war. On the left side of the river used to be the Ghetto. Today you can see there some monuments commemorating the tragic history of Jews in Warsaw. At Umschlagplatz you can see also the memorial raised at the very spot where Warsaw Jews were gathered before a departure to the concentration camp at Treblinka.
